What Umrah Costs from India: A Full Breakdown

The cost components

Every Umrah package is assembled from the same building blocks:

• Flights: usually the largest single cost. Direct flights cost more than one-stop routes via the Gulf
• Hotels: priced largely by distance from the Haram and by star rating. A hotel at the door can cost several times what one 1.5 km away does for the same night
• Visa and insurance: a broadly fixed cost, bundled by the agency
• Ground transport: airport transfers and the Makkah-Madinah leg, by bus or by the Haramain high-speed train
• Food: some packages include full board, others only breakfast or nothing. Budget realistic meal costs for what is excluded

Rough price bands

These are indicative bands to give you a feel for the market, not Nusayr prices or quotes; the current figures are on the packages page. Economy packages (very roughly ₹60,000 to ₹85,000) tend to use hotels 800 m to 2 km from the Haram with a shuttle, one-stop flights and shared rooms. Standard packages (very roughly ₹85,000 to ₹1,25,000) bring you within walking distance and often include the high-speed train. Premium packages (from about ₹1,25,000 upward) put you in 4-5 star hotels close to the Haram with direct flights and private transfers.

Room sharing is the quiet lever: the same package priced for quad-sharing versus double occupancy can differ by tens of thousands of rupees per person.

Distance from the Haram is about walking time

A hotel's distance in metres is only part of the story. Walking time also depends on which gate you use, the route around the buildings, and the crowd at prayer times, so 300 m can be a long walk. For elderly pilgrims or anyone with children, the shuttle schedule and the hotel's gate matter as much as the number. Ask the agency how people actually get to the mataf.

Season changes the price

Ramadan, especially the last ten nights, is the most expensive time for Umrah, often well above ordinary pricing. The months after Hajj are typically the cheapest. Costs that are rarely in the package

Budget separately for anything the inclusion list does not mention. Common extras:

• Meals the package does not cover, and snacks, water and Zamzam containers
• Optional ziyarat (visits to historic sites) beyond the included tour
• A local SIM or eSIM, laundry and tips
• Vaccinations, medicines and travel insurance beyond the mandatory cover
• Shopping and gifts, and excess baggage if you bring home dates and Zamzam

Questions that expose hidden costs

Before booking any package, on Nusayr or anywhere, ask these and you avoid nearly every unpleasant surprise:

• Is the Umrah visa and insurance included in this price?
• How far exactly is each hotel from the Haram, how long does the walk take, and is there a shuttle?
• How many people share a room at this price?
• Are all the transfers included: airport, between the two cities, and back?
• Which meals are included?
• What is the baggage allowance, and is there room to bring back Zamzam?
• What is the payment schedule, and what are the cancellation terms? Get them in writing

Warning signs

A price far below every other package for the same dates usually means something is left out, and a package with no written inclusion list cannot be compared at all. Be cautious of any agency that asks for the full amount up front, will only take cash, or will not give a receipt or an invoice.
