Makkah

  • ◆Jabal al-Nour (Cave of Hira)4 km from Haram · 2–3 hours. Where the first revelation of the Qur'an came to the Prophet ﷺ in 610 CE. The cave (Ghār Ḥirā) sits at the summit — a steep but rewarding climb. Tip: Start before sunrise to beat the heat and crowds. Carry water.
  • ◆Jabal Thawr (Cave of Thawr)6 km from Haram · 2–3 hours. The Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr (RA) sheltered here for three days during the Hijra. Steeper and longer than Jabal al-Nour. Tip: Wear good shoes — the descent is harder than the ascent.
  • ◆Jannatul Mualla Cemetery0.8 km from Haram · 30 minutes. Resting place of Sayyida Khadijah (RA), the Prophet's first wife; ʿAbdul Muṭṭalib; and other family members. Tip: Open between prayers for men. Women may visit at set times.
  • ◆Masjid al-Jinn1 km from Haram · 15 minutes. Built where a group of jinn listened to the Prophet ﷺ recite the Qur'an (as told in Surah al-Jinn). Tip: A small mosque, an easy walk from the Haram.
  • ◆Masjid al-Ijabah1.5 km from Haram · 20 minutes. A place of supplication near the Haram, often overlooked by visitors. Tip: Relatively quiet — good for focused du'a.
  • ◆Birthplace of the Prophet ﷺ0.5 km from Haram · 15 minutes. The site of the Prophet's ﷺ birth, now a library building — a profoundly historic spot. Tip: Adjacent to the Haram complex — easy to visit between prayers.

Madinah

  • ◆Masjid Quba5 km from Nabawi · 1 hour. The first mosque built in Islam. Two rakʿah of prayer here equals one Umrah in reward. Tip: Visit on a Saturday morning when groups gather. Easy by taxi.
  • ◆Masjid al-Fath & Aḥzāb (Trench)3 km from Nabawi · 45 minutes. Site of the Battle of the Trench (Aḥzāb). The Prophet ﷺ prayed in Masjid al-Fath during the battle — a cluster of five small mosques. Tip: Best by taxi. Several small mosques in one complex.
  • ◆Jabal Uhud & Martyrs5 km from Nabawi · 1–2 hours. Site of the Battle of Uhud (625 CE). Resting place of Sayyidunā Ḥamzah (RA) and 70 Companions; the Prophet ﷺ visited regularly. Tip: Visiting Uhud is Sunnah. Recite salawat and du'a for the martyrs.
  • ◆Masjid al-Qiblatayn4 km from Nabawi · 30 minutes. The Mosque of Two Qiblas — where the qibla was turned mid-prayer from Jerusalem to Makkah. Tip: A quick and meaningful visit.
  • ◆Jannatul Baqi CemeteryAdjacent to Nabawi · 30 minutes. Resting place of thousands of Companions and the Prophet's ﷺ family, including his daughter Fatimah (RA). Tip: Open for men at set times. Women may view from outside the fence.
  • ◆Date Palm FarmsAl-ʿAwali area · 1 hour. Madinah is famed for its dates (ʿAjwa, Ṣafāwī, Medjool). The farms give a sense of the city's blessed landscape. Tip: Best combined with a Masjid Quba visit; buy dates direct.
