In this moment

  • Pause at the thresholdAs you enter the Mataf and first glimpse the Kaaba, stop. Take a breath. This moment is rare — receive it with full presence.
  • Raise your handsRaise both hands and face the House with humility. Pour out your own du'a — in any language, from your heart.
  • Keep the Talbiyah goingThere is no fixed, authentically-established du'a for this first sight. The Sunnah is to keep reciting the Talbiyah until you reach the Black Stone and begin Tawaf.
  • Say the TakbeerSay "Allāhu Akbar" and "Lā ilāha illa-llāh" — let the weight of those words settle in this place.
  • Send SalawatSend blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, who brought us the guidance to be here. Then proceed with your intention for Tawaf.

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la sharika laka labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak

Here I am, O Allah, here I am. You have no partner, here I am. Truly all praise, grace and sovereignty are Yours — You have no partner.

No specific du'a for the first sight of the Kaaba is authentically established — the popular "Allāhumma zid hādhal-bayt" has a broken (munqatiʿ) chain. Raise your hands and supplicate sincerely.

  • The current structure of the Kaaba was rebuilt in 1629 CE.
  • The Black Stone (Ḥajar al-Aswad) sits in the eastern corner, about 1.5 m above the ground.
  • The door (Bāb al-Kaʿbah) is solid gold, set about 2.13 m above the floor.
  • The Kaaba is draped in the Kiswah — a black silk cloth replaced every year.
  • The Ḥaṭīm is the semi-circular wall marking the original boundary of the Kaaba.
